From August 8 to 9, Tang Dapeng, deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee of the China-ROK Demonstration Zone and director of its Management Committee, led a team to Yanji to visit Lee Sang-moo, former deputy minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of South Korea and current president of the South Korea Overseas Agriculture Association. They also visited Jilin Sanghuang Biotechnology Group Co Ltd and Helong Yuanchi Vegetables Co Ltd.
During his tenure at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of South Korea, Lee Sang-moo made significant contributions to South Korea's agricultural modernization and promoted international cooperation in the agricultural sector. During the visit, Jin Hongyun, a professor from the School of Agriculture and Rural Development of Renmin University of China, and Sun Zhenxiang, a partner of China-U.S. Green Fund, were also invited to attend the event. The meeting focused on upgrading comprehensive cooperation, expanding trade channels, and establishing a regular mutual-visit mechanism. Strategic cooperation intentions on deepening agricultural cooperation and promoting trade investment were reached at the meeting. Lee Sang-moo said that the South Korea Overseas Agriculture Association will fully leverage its policy coordination and enterprise resource advantages to speed up the implementation of cooperation projects.
Tang Dapeng emphasized that the meeting marks the advancement of the demonstration zone's agricultural cooperation with South Korea from a single trade to a multidimensional integration of "enterprise + industry + trade + resources", injecting new impetus into the high-quality agricultural development of Northeast Asia.
Jilin Sanghuang Biotechnology Group is a provincial-level key enterprise in agricultural industrialization, a provincial-level leading enterprise in forestry industrialization, as well as a "little giant" enterprise in Jilin province, integrating the cultivation, processing and sales of Changbai Mountain Sanghuang into a complete industrial chain. During the visit, Tang Dapeng noted that Sanghuang has great potential in the field of food and medicine homology. If the small-molecule extraction project of Sanghuang can be implemented in the China-ROK Demonstration Zone, it will not only be highly compatible with the development direction of the health industry in the demonstration zone, but also provide more cooperation opportunities for local firms and create new economic growth points for the demonstration zone, Tang said.
Helong Yuanchi Vegetables Co Ltd, located in Helong city, Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture, mainly produces "Li Jiao Zhu" brand kimchi. To expand its production scale, the company has rented a factory in the health food industry park of the demonstration zone. In the future, the company will play an important role in boosting the health food industry development of the demonstration zone. Tang Dapeng expressed his hope that the company can accelerate the progress of its kimchi project in the demonstration zone. The demonstration zone will leverage its advantages in international cooperation to actively assist the company in expanding sales channels and achieving win-win cooperation, he added.
This visit to Yanji has laid a foundation for the future establishment of modern planting bases and green agricultural product bases with South Korean enterprises in the China-ROK Demonstration Zone, effectively supporting the development of industrial projects.
